In Their Footsteps - British state execute innocent civilians in Ireland

The war between the British and the I.R.A. from 1969 - 1997, was fought in different parts of the world and in different forms. Its main battle field, however, was the 6 counties in the north-east of Ireland. It is in these 6 counties of Ireland that the British claim jurisdiction. This claim was disputed by the IRA and, at one time, also disputed by the Irish state.

This conflict has deep roots and some argued that it was 'Europe's last religious war'. While that war is long over, another still rages. The war for justice and peace. Justice and peace for the families of those gunned down by the British state and the British loyalist militia.

This piece speaks to the loved ones of those gunned down. Gunned down even though they were innocent civilians and not members of the I.R.A. This piece synopsises their story and quest for truth and justice, at a commemoration event on Dublin's O'Connell's Street in June 2014.
